After dinner and a drink at the athletic club restaurant and then clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, the best way to celebrate the New Year is by watching the annual Rose Bowl Parade held every year on New Year’s Day. This year will mark the 130th Rose Parade and the annual college football bowl game that follows after the parade.
This year marks the 105th annual Rose Bowl Game. During the Rose Bowl game, the college football winners from the Big Ten and Pac-12 leagues will compete together to determine the winner. This year, the football game will feature Ohio State vs. Washington. Come to the stadium early and enjoy tailgates and pre-game activities such as appearances from the Rose Queen, the Royal Court, and more.
The Rose Parade takes place ever New Years Day at 8 AM sharp. The rose parade features floats from different cities in Los Angeles as well as organizations with all of the floats being decorated with roses, flowers, and other all-natural products such as seeds and leaves. This year, the theme for the parade will be “The Melody of Life,” a celebration of music, the universal language. The Grand Marshal for the 2019 ceremony will be singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Chaka Khan. Tickets to bleacher seats are available for purchase, or you can get a spot on the sidewalks along the parade route for free.
